To Fund the Law School’s Digital Signage Project
WHEREAS, Student Government Association promotes overall programming that is beneficial to students in order to better represent and spread knowledge within and beyond FIU;
WHEREAS, The FIU Law School is one of the most selective law schools in America, the second most diverse, and one of the few schools with a majority-female population;
WHEREAS, The Digital Signage is a software that provides electronic display of information, advertising, and other messages;
WHEREAS, This program will increase student knowledge of events in and around campus, not just at the Law School, bringing the community of FIU students closer than ever before;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Student Government Council – Modesto A. Maidique Campus will appropriate $1,0001,950 3,250 to the Law School for the Digital Signage.

In Support of “Hopes for Children of the World”
WHEREAS, Student Government Association promotes overall programming thatis beneficial to students in order to better represent and spreadknowledge within and beyond FIU;
WHEREAS, “Hopes for Children of the World” is a program that brings hope tocommunities in remote areas of the world by providing suitableshelter, education, and essentials;
WHEREAS, Their vision is to impact and make a difference in less fortunatecommunities, by bringing vivid colors, in the midst of poverty anddeprivation;
WHEREAS, This program will impact the lives of students by allowing them toshare a unique experience that will make them more socially alertand humanitarian;
WHEREAS, The students in this program will be lecturing adults and children ofthe community about sustainability and nutrition, and will also berenovating the village;
WHEREAS, This project will be accomplished from December 11th to the 18th inNuevo Amanecer, Nicaragua;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Student Government Council– Modesto A. Maidique Campus will appropriate $2,000 to theorganization “Hopes for Children of the World” for airfare to Leon,Nicaragua.

The FIU Student Government Association Transparency Act of 2010
SECTION I. Short Title
This bill may be cited as the SGA Transparency Act of 2010.
SECTION II. Purpose
The purpose of this bill is to give all students the opportunity to be informed of all that goes on in their Student Government. Furthermore, this bill will provide a record of the major occurrences at Student Government meetings, ensuring that all participants are accurately quoted by the media and their fellow members of Student Government. Including language mandating that this rule go into effect in February 2011 will allow Student Government to lay all the groundwork needed to ensure this requirement can be fulfilled.
SECTION III. Inserting a meeting taping requirement into Article I of the SGC-MMC statutes.
Section 1.04 Recording all meetings
(a) Beginning in February 2011, all Senate, Cabinet and full council meetings of the Student Government Council at Modesto Maidique Campus shall be video and/or audio recorded, with all recordings posted online on an FIU affiliated website.
