In Support of Students “Confronting America”

WHEREAS, Student Government Association promotes overall programming thatis beneficial to students in order to better represent and spread knowledge within and beyond FIU;

WHEREAS, This trip will expose FIU students to politics in D.C., the nation’s history, and firsthand experience first hand with  of the culture of our nation’s capitaol;

WHEREAS, The program will serve as a lobbying effort on behalf of the University as FIU students are scheduled to meet with congressional staffers, an FIU lobbyist in D.C., and congressional representatives to promote FIU as a University, its mission, the program, the University sponsors, and national exposure;

WHEREAS, The event will occur from March 17-20th and will take place in Washington, D.C.;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Student Government Council –Modesto A. Maidique Campus will appropriate $1,800 to the Honors College students of the “Confronting America” course for their airfare to Washington, D.C.
