Resolution SR 1047: In support of AEROBOTS@FIU Design & Build Success Technology Fee Proposal

In support of AEROBOTS@FIU Design & Build Success Technology Fee Proposal

WHEREAS,  The Student Government Association’s purpose is to ensure that students concerns are addressed in the immediate governance and policy development of Florida International University at all levels, providing an official voice and action on behalf of the student body;
WHEREAS,  The College of Engineering and Computing has more than 4,000 students enrolled in its academic programs;
WHEREAS, The AEROBOTS@FIU Design & Build Success project would expose students to work in a multidisciplinary environment with hands on experience, while gaining outside classroom exposure to  carrier and networking resources;
WHEREAS, The Aerobot multidisciplinary design and build project will have a complete reconnaissance system to be developed by a student team in order to compete in  an international competition;
WHEREAS, With this initiative students will have the ability to engage in project oriented assignments with modern technology and students will also be able to compete in a technologically fast paced society;
WHEREAS,  Faculty will receive more receptive students who will more actively engage during class lectures thus enhancing the teaching experience for the students;
WHEREAS, Six students and two faculty members will be actively involved with the project, more than thirty (30) students will follow the developments in the senior design course closely, ten (10) students will be conducting research on engineering related topics and participating in competitions focused on designing, building and testing devices will benefit from this initiative, and forty (40) students involved in the AEROBOTS@FIU society will also be following and learning from the developments in the project;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Student Government Council – Modesto A. Maidique Campus expresses its support of the purchasing of all necessary equipment and software for the AEROBOTS@FIU Design & Build Success as requested to the Technology Fee Committee.
