Resolution SR 1040: In Support of Additional Resources for the College of Business Administration

In Support of Additional Resources for the College of Business Administration

WHEREAS, The purpose of the Student Government Association is to foster student life, embrace global diversity, as well as represent and address students’ needs at the community, state, federal, and international level;

WHEREAS, FIU’s College of Business is consistently ranked high in rankings by the Princeton Review, U.S. News and World Report, and BusinessWeek, and attracts top faculty and students;

WHEREAS, The College of Business Administration is the largest of Florida International University’s (FIU) professional schools, enrolling about 6,000 undergraduates and more than 1,000 graduate students annually;

WHEREAS, The International Business program at FIU is ranked 12th best in the nation;

WHEREAS, Due to lack of funding and a lack of professors, a vast majority of the International Business courses, as well as other program courses, are not being offered, or being offered in very limited, constricted quantities;

WHEREAS, We must strive to maintain and commit resources to the successful programs we currently have at FIU in order to be able to build up and develop the other Colleges;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Student Government Council – Modesto A. Maidique Campus encourages the FIU Administration to commit additional resources, including hiring more faculty, to the College of Business Administration so that the wide range of courses on the course catalog can be offered and students can continue to develop in their education.

Proviso: a copy of this resolution shall be sent to the Dean and Associate Deans of the College of Business, the Board of Trustees, and the FIU President and be accompanied by an official memorandum from the College of Business Senate Delegation.
